CARBON FIBRE QUADCOPTER

The aim of this project was to make this build as light as possible. Although the aim of a <200g quadcopter wasn’t met, this was a great exercise in working with carbon fibre and 3d printing with TPU.

Carbon fibre has the tendency to crack easier when the structure of it is compromised, e.g. drilled through. I designed a set of motor mounts which, printed in TPU, have a tight friction fit to the quadcopter arms. With the added grip of some zip ties these mounts not only feel robust, the nature of the TPU (flexible rubber) also absorbs a ton of vibrations coming from the motors.
